Wet Nose Wednesday: Bailey

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Bailey.

Bailey is from a litter rescued from Tipton Shelter as a six week old puppy; she is now 10 months old and absolutely precious. Bailey is loving and very active. She loves to play and gets along great with the five dog friends she has made at her foster home. Bailey’s foster family also has four kids (13, 5, 3 & 2) and she loves playing with them too. Bailey sometimes gets just a little scared if the kids chase her and goes to her kennel. Bailey has a great personality and is working on house training and is doing well with crate training. She is learning to go to the door when she has to potty. When Bailey lays down with someone in the “people family” she loves to go up to their head and lay down with her head resting on their neck. Bailey wants nothing more than to be cuddled and loved. Her foster mom even puts her in her sweatshirt and carries her around. Bailey would stay in there for hours if she could. She can’t wait to get in your lap and cuddle as soon as possible. Bailey is a truly loving puppy and would be a great little snuggle bug for someone.

This week’s featured pet is Halo.

halo

Halo was born in Tipton County to a mother that was tied to a tree so we don’t really know what she is mixed   She will be two years old in October, weighs 45 lbs and stands about 23 inches tall (at shoulders).  Halo is well behaved, house broken (stays in kennel durning day) and is a very nice dog.  She get along with other dogs and would love to have a playmate her size but is NOT good with cats.  Halo is spayed, current on her shots and is on heartworm preventative.  Halo likes to fetch her toys and play; she is good with children and ready to find a home of her own!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Kamy

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Kamy.

Kamy and her sister Katy were found by Tipton County Animal Control wandering through the back roads of Brighton, TN. When they were taken to the shelter they were only 3 months old and were grossly underweight only weighing 10 and 12 pounds. Now they are 2 ½ years old, 17 inches tall (at the shoulder) and weigh about 40 pounds. Kamy is very smart; already crate trained, house trained and knows a few basic commands. She is a very loving but timid dog that is extremely appreciative of being rescued and loves to cuddle to show her appreciation. Kamy needs to be in a calm home where she will not be home alone all day. She is very well behaved, enjoys playing, curling up on the couch to snuggle, is sometimes a little nervous but enjoys taking walks and rides in the car too. Kamy has lived most of the last 2 years with her sister, 2 other dogs and 2 cats and gets along well with them. She is interested in and likes to chase one of the cats; the same cat also walks up and rubs on her (Kamy doesn’t know what to think when this happens). Kamy is usually a submissive dog and has been getting picked on by her sister and one of the other dogs she lives with; so she stays separated from them and is finally ready to move on to a new life without her sister. Kamy had a hard life before rescue, then was briefly adopted and severely teased by an 8-10 year old boy so she is not comfortable around children that age and younger. If you are a patient person looking for a smart, young, unique looking dog that has a lot of love and loyalty to give then you have found her!

Wet Nose Wednesday – Homer

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Homer.

This young gentleman is Homer. He is 3-5 years old according to the vet but most people think he is a puppy. I did some research and he appears to be a Bagel Hound – which is a hybrid dog – a mix of basset hound/beagle. Homer loves to play with other dogs and curl up beside you on the couch or snuggle in the bed. If he is off leash – he will follow a scent to who knows where. (Not a good idea.) Homer is great with kids, cats, and is well socialized. Homer was found roaming around the Germantown area with no collar and no one to claim him but he is now ready to find a home to call his own.

She was seen running as a stray in a neighborhood for about a month before she was rescued. Mallory is a very sweet dog with a great personality. Her tail wags when she sees you and she loves to be around you. Mallory likes people, dogs and kids. She likes to have her belly rubbed and snuggle up next to you on the couch. Mallory would make a great addition to any family or someone just looking for a sweet, cuddly companion.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Moon Pie

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Moon Pie.

Moon Pie is a 6 month old, female black Lab mix that weighs 36 pounds. She is extremely sweet and passive; she loves to cuddle on the couch, play with other dogs and cats. She would prefer to have another dog in her home to look up to and follow as she looks to other dogs for leadership. Moon Pie is very “girly” and sweet and likes men, women and especially children. Moon Pie is up to date on her shots, heartworm negative and spayed, house trained and knows how to use a doggie door. She was rescued from a shelter at 10 weeks of age and was subsequently found to have congenital left femoral hip degenerative joint disease (this condition is common in Labs and German Shepherds) that is treated with a daily supplement that costs $15 per month. Moon Pie’s activity is not impaired but she should not be taken on long hikes or become someone’s a running partner and should keep a health slim-weight as a preventative measure. And be her canine companion. She is like a big Teddy Bear…soft, cuddly and sweet. So if you and your family are looking for a sweet, young dog that does not need a lot of exercise then you have found her!

Wet Nose Wednesday: PJ

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is PJ.

PJ is a bully mix that is about 1 year old, 19 inches tall at the shoulders and weighs 42 pounds. She wandered around a subdivision for a couple of months and would not let us get close to her. PJ was very skinny so we put food out on the curb for her until she was finally ready to accept a roof over her head. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm negative and ready for her new home. PJ is very loving and affectionate. PJ does require to be walked on a leash as she can climb a 6 foot chain link fence before you can blink an eye; possibly a wooden fence would work for her. She is good on the leash as she wants to do her business and get back into the house. PJ seems to do fine with the dogs bigger than her. She shows a little more interest in smaller animals than I am comfortable with so I have not introduced her to them. The cats are around 15 years old and I do not want to stress them. She has tried to catch squirrels. If you are looking for a unique, beautiful, loving dog then you have found her!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Moe

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Moe.

MOE

Moe is a handsome lab mix brought up from the Tunica Shelter to be VisualThunder to be kept out of the freezing temperatures. A family took him for the weekend and absolutely loves him. Moe is less than a year and has a ton of puppy exuberance and is still doing things that puppies do like mouthing your hand with his teeth and nipping at your heels when you walk. He loves to wrap himself around our legs when we take him outside. I believe he’s probably 40 pounds and while he looks like a lab mix, I don’t think he’ll be as big as a full lab tends to get. I would guesstimate he won’t get much beyond 50-55ish pounds.

He loves to wrestle with us. We’ll take him in our lap and tickle him, roll him over to give him tummy rubs, etc. He is a bit of a thief and still needs to learn the difference between his dog toys and things like shoes, socks, etc. but he is just the sweetest dog. He does very well in a crate and is virtually house-broken already. We have a border collie and a border collie foster (both females) and he does very well with them. He and our border collie foster have been given each other kisses and licking each other. Also, as opposed to many dogs that come out of uncertain situations and wind up in shelters, he doesn’t have much fear. He is very inquisitive and loves to wander around our house and learn new things.

We have fostered many dogs and he is one of our favorite and we hate to see him go back into a shelter environment.

Wet Nose Wednesday: Minnie

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Minnie.

Minney 121509

Minnie is a young, energetic female Miniature Pincher. She is potty trained (with a doggie door) and loves to go for walks at the park. Minnie NEVER meets a stranger and she’s the most loving dog her foster mom has ever met. She loves cuddling in the bed after a long day, but she also loves to play outside with a stuffed toy. Minnie is very smart and knows simple commands like sit and stay. She LOVES other animals and plays well with others! Minnie would do best in a home where she can be #1 and have LOTS of love and attention. She has not been around children much, but as sweet as she is, I’m sure she would love their company too! Minnie is heartworm free, spayed and ready for a home to call her own!

Wet Nose Wednesday: Joe Boxer

Every Wednesday at 8:40, Guardian Angel Pet Rescue joins the Mike and Mandy show to showcase a special animal that needs a good home.

This week’s featured pet is Joe Boxer.

Joe091609

Joe Boxer is a young (about 2 years old) male terrier mix that weighs 25 pounds. He was rescued from the Tipton County Animal Shelter and got the name Joe Boxer for the way he “boxes like a kangaroo” with dogs; not in an aggressive way at all, just the way he likes to play. Joe is good with cats and mellow dogs of all sizes. He is crate-trained and I would say housebroken. Joe is heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccinations and neutered. Joe might be best in a home with children 5 years and older just because of his degree of energy. If you are looking for a great, young dog that loves to play then you have found him!

Buddy082509a
Buddy082509b

Buddy is 6 years old and is thought to be a Curley Coated Retriever and Cocker Spaniel mix. His birth date is 06-01-03 and he weighs 53 lbs. Buddy loves people (thus his name!) and he extremely good natured. He loves to play and can fetch. Buddy is crate-trained, house-trained, neutered and micro-chipped. He is great with children and other dogs and loves his large fenced yard. Buddy ended up homeless when his Mom, Debbie (our dear friend and fellow Guardian Angel volunteer) lost her battle with breast cancer. Her husband’s job requires him to travel quite a bit so he was not able to continue her rescue work. Buddy was boarded for a little while until a foster home opened; he has lived there for the last year patiently waiting for his new home. So, if you are looking for a sweet adult dog with a great personality who loves to be near his family then you have found him!
